Leasing & Property Manager

Job description:
The Historic Trust is seeking a Leasing & Property Manager to oversee a unique portfolio of historic properties with a mix of commercial and residential tenants.
This role is ideal for a hands-on operator with strong commercial leasing experience who wants ownership over leasing outcomes, portfolio performance, and tenant strategy—while working in a mission-driven environment focused on preservation and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
You will take the lead on managing a portfolio of 200+ tenants (primarily commercial), with responsibility for:
Leasing & Revenue Performance
- Drive occupancy, rental income, and leasing activity across the portfolio
- Lead marketing, negotiation, and execution of commercial leases
- Set and adjust pricing strategies based on market conditions
Tenant Strategy & Relationships
- Actively manage tenant mix to support both financial performance and community goals
- Build strong relationships with commercial tenants and resolve escalated issues
- Support long-term tenant retention and stability
Portfolio Operations
- Oversee rent collections and accounts receivable performance
- Coordinate with Facilities and Preservation team on maintenance and capital needs
- Ensure properties are well-maintained, compliant, and operating efficiently
Team Leadership
- Supervise a Leasing Coordinator who supports routine residential leasing and departmental administrative functions and tenant communication
- Ensure consistent, organized processes for leasing, renewals, and tenant management
What You Bring
- At least 3-5 years of property management or leasing experience
- Strong commercial leasing experience, including negotiation and deal structuring
- Familiarity with residential leasing, even if it is not your dominant experience
- Experience managing occupancy, revenue, and portfolio performance
- Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in a dynamic environment
- Comfort using systems and tools (Yardi, Microsoft 365, etc.) to stay organized and drive results
What Makes This Role Different
- A mixed-use portfolio combining commercial and residential historic properties
- Opportunity to shape tenant mix and leasing strategy, not just fill vacancies
- Work within a nonprofit focused on long-term stewardship and community impact
How Success Is Measured
- Occupancy and vacancy timelines
- Rent collections and accounts receivable performance
- Leasing activity and deal execution
- Tenant retention and satisfaction
- Organization, responsiveness, and follow-through
